Did you know that the average person will move approximately 11 times in his or her lifetime? According to Moving.com, a moving resource, relocation ranks as one of the most stressful events in life. Strange how we’re apt to do it so often, then.Part of the stress involved in moving, in addition to finding a newer, larger or better homestead in your price range, is packing and getting all of the stuff you’ve accumulated over the last several years to your new locale. Many homeowners think that this is a task best handled by themselves. However, you might find that using a professional moving service is more advantageous in the long run. Here’s why: Read Full Story

As many of you may have seen, we recently launched our ‘Client Ratings’ feature, where ZipRealty users have a chance to share their comments and rate homes that are currently available for sale. While we encourage all of our customers to submit reviews for any home they have seen or are interested in, all of our reviews are moderated and reviewed by human editors so that we don’t inadvertently post reviews that are offensive, violate any of our guidelines, or are based on personal attacks. Furthermore, we are hoping that these reviews actually provide some new insight or value to our customers about the home. So far, the majority of the reviews have been very informative – from customer observations on the pros and cons of a house based on their own visit, to the sharing of public information about the property or neighborhood.
However, there are the occasional reviews […]

LISA NAPOLI: Today we get word from the National Association of Realtors on how many existing homes sold across the nation in July. The numbers are likely to show a continued softening in the housing market. In parts of California, home sales have already fallen an average of 29%. Jeff Tyler looks at one possible reason for the dip.
——————————————————————————–JEFF TYLER: For decades, pop music has touted California as THE destination.

Are you supposed to tip movers?
You know… like movers…the guys that come in the truck and charge an exorbitant fee to take your random detritus from point A to point B — do you tip them? Having never hired movers, I am totally in the dark on this point of etiquette.

Moving can upset children of any age. It frequently causes them to feel apprehensive and insecure. But, don’t despair; there are many things you can do to make the moving experience less scary for your children. Involve Them from the Very Beginning.Tell your children as soon as you know you’re moving; don’t spring it on them at the last minute. Explain why you’re moving in terms they can understand. Do you need more room? Are you relocating because of a new job? Be sure to explain what will happen so they’ll know what to expect. This will remove a lot of the fear and confusion they may be feeling. Tell them when the move will take place and how their things will get from the old house to the new house.Be sure and answer their questions as fully as you can. Remember that your attitude about the move will […]

What did you like about them (and *who* did you use) and what > didn’t you like? What would you have done differently? On average what > prices were you quoted? Do NOT, under any circumstances, use the company from Florida known as “Majesty Moving and Storage”. Simonik then stated that he heard that someone had called him intimidating,” Somerset County Prosecutor Wayne J. Forrest said about the Bridgewater police investigation. That’s when Simonik, 57, of Westfield pulled a gun from a leather bag and put it on a table with the gun’s barrel facing an employee, police said. “He then asked the employees, `Now, who is intimidated?’” police said.Simonik is free on $25,000 bail and is scheduled […]
